Static vs Dynamic QR Codes: Which One Does Your Business Need?
A free QR code works for ever but can never change. A dynamic QR can be re-pointed after printing and counts scans. Here is how to choose.

QR codes are on menus, business cards, shop windows and packaging across Pakistan and the UAE. There are two kinds, and choosing the wrong one costs reprints.
Static QR codes
A static QR holds its link inside the pattern itself.
- Free to make, and it works for ever.
- It can never be changed — a new link means a new code and a reprint.
- Best for things that never change: your website, a WiFi password, a contact card.
Dynamic QR codes
A dynamic QR holds a short address that forwards to wherever you choose.
- Change the destination any time — the printed code follows.
- See how many times it was scanned.
- Best for menus, offers, catalogues, event pages and packaging that outlives a campaign.
A simple rule
If you will print many copies or keep them for months, choose dynamic. If it is one link that will never change, static is perfect.
Printing tips
- At least 2 cm wide for close scanning; larger for posters.
- Dark code on a light background, with a white border around it.
- Test on two phones before printing.
On SFIVA
SFIVA Codes makes static QR codes free — links, WhatsApp, WiFi, contact cards — and offers Dynamic QR with scan counts and a private desk to change the destination.
